BY AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE KHARTOUM, May 2 - South Sudan's defence minister was killed on Friday in a plane crash along with 23 other people, most of them army officers, the south's vice president Riek Machar said. The minister's plane crashed some 375 kilometres (around 220 miles) west of the southern capital Juba, Machar told AFP. Machar gave no reason for the crash, but ruled out an attack. "The plane had been rented from an charter company and was carrying a delegation of leaders from the (former rebel) Sudan People's Liberation Movement from Waw to the capital Juba," 450 kilometres (290 miles) away, he said. Besides southern Defence Minister Dominic Dim Deng, an advisor to south Sudan leader and national First Vice President Salva Kiir was also on board, Machar said.
